It is clear to
see that this local government is in denial as to its responsibilities to child safety and it in fact treating the matter
by way of sweeping it under the carpet.
They have jumped
from the fire into the frying pan. The culprits that were responsible, who had resigned still hold power as councillors and
still maintain control. In effect nothing has changed except that the pawns have been moved around on the chess board, but
the balance of power and control still remain in the hands of Sharon Shoesmith regime.
Mean while the
children still continue to suffer. It reminds me of a time when children were drowning in the lea each summer but Lorna Reith
put up strong opposition against putting up barriers to protect the children from falling into the river, saying it might
make the fisher men uncomfortable or the children may then decide to climb over the barriers. And yes of course it would spoil
the look of the environment. Eventually with a lot of pressure from a resident pressure group fences were put up around the
estate to prevent the children from running out onto the river. I myself was amazed to see that the fence that was put in
place was then unbolted to allow gardeners to bring their machines onto the estate. If Lorna is not a mother what is her qualification
to hold this present position other than being a close associate of Sharon Shoesmith.
Another thing that
amazes me about the hypocritical way in which the council operates. They removed the communal heating and installed individual
boilers in each home claiming that they were going to save us money. From where I stand that was a very un-environmentally
friendly move. Each home has become an outlet source of carbon into the atmosphere. They then put recycle bins all over the
estate and claim to be acting on behalf of the environment.
